I wanted to share with you my video that’s live on my YouTube channel, where I opened and swatched ColourPop’s Sailor Moon makeup collection.
As with most geeky Millenials, I grew up watching Sailor Moon and immediately connected with the show’s empowering messages of love and justice and its gorgeous anime aesthetics. I started watching Sailor Moon’s DiC dub version weekday mornings on the WB Network before heading off to school, until it migrated over to Toonami’s afternoon block—the first one with Moltar as the host (wow, I’m really old).
Anyways, ColourPop surprised everyone in both the beauty and anime community when they launched the collection on Feb. 20th, 2020—several days after they made the formal announcement on social media on Feb. 18th leaving people with 2-3 days to secure their funds.
It was a nightmare navigating ColourPop’s website as it kept crashing on me mid-transaction during launch, but I was one of the lucky Moonies who got my hands on the collection during its first run. A year later, ColourPop sends out social media promos announcing restocks of the collection as recent as mid-April 2021 via Instagram.
